The Breast Center - Five Days to Diagnosis

When a possible diagnosis of breast cancer hangs in the balance, nothing seems worse than waiting. Yet, nationally, a woman waits an average of 22 days to learn the results of her breast biopsy. However, most biopsies do not result in a diagnosis of breast cancer. Our goal is to reduce your waiting time to as few as five working days.

Rapid Response

The doctors and nurses at the Saint Agnes Breast Center are committed not only to practicing state of the art medicine, but also to our Rapid Response when a referral is received.

From a referring physician’s point of view, the rapid response program means that a patient or physician need only call a single, dedicated number at the Saint Agnes Breast Center. The nurse coordinator who takes the call in the Breast Center will make sure the patient is brought into the system and that she gets everything she needs in a timely manner, thereby decreasing her anxiety and waiting time. This approach takes the responsibility off of the primary care physicians, who can simply refer a patient to the rapid diagnosis program and let the professionals in the Breast Center take over.
